by Kiran and Zain in Year 8

The highly anticipated film Avengers Infinity War: Part 1 is set to be released on Thursday 26th of April 2018, marking the 10th anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Part 2 of the film is scheduled to be released in April or May 2019.

One Marvel Studios press release provides a plot summary for the film: ‘As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artefacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.’

The budget of Avengers Infinity War: Part 1 and its sequel is approximately $500 million. To be successful, in the opening weekend it is expected to gross $200 – $250 million in the US.

The film is directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo who have also directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. This movie has a cast of all-star actors and actresses, with some new faces.

The history of Marvel studios has proven that they are more than capable of including numerous superheroes and villains harmoniously in a movie. We can only hope that this movie is no different. There is going to be a record number of superheroes and villains in it. But are audiences becoming tired of the number of superhero films?

Where are the Marvel studios going to go next?

Although, this is meant to be the ultimate battle between good and evil. The Marvel franchise is far too successful and popular to end after this film. Marvel Studios has proven that they can keep the superhero genre fresh with the recent success of Black Panther.
