Enrolment Enrichment for Year 12 & 13
6thform/1011/ltr/enrol yr12 and 13 15 July 2010
Dear Parents and Carers
Sixth Form Enrolment Arrangements and Dress Code
Now that the exams are over it’s time to think ahead towards your Sixth Form studies.
Enrolment will start on Thursday 19 August at 11.00am to 3.00pm and Friday 20 August 10.00am to 2.00pm.
When you come for enrolment you will need to bring your results notification slip and any certificates related to qualifications that you have already achieved. You will also need to bring a cheque made payable to Park High School for the sum of £15 for the Common Room Amenity Fund. Collection of such amounts is standard procedure in sixth forms. Please regularly check the school website for any information updates.
We have an offsite Activity day planned for Friday 3 September for the whole sixth form and the sixth form tutors. You will need to complete a form EV7 when you come to enrol. Your parents will be expected to sign the form and you will need to return it to school ahead of our departure on the morning of Friday 3 September. The Activity day is the first day of your induction and all students are required to attend. Induction will continue on Monday 6 September.
Sixth Form students at Park High are role models for the rest of the school and will be expected to uphold and embody the standards expected of pupils in lower years. This means that members of the Sixth Form must maintain consistently high personal standards of dress and smartness of appearance. This will also increase respect from younger pupils. The aim is for students to be guided by the principles of acceptable business wear. There should be a clear distinction between what is worn in the evening, on holiday or at the weekend and what is worn during the working week. We expect such clothing to be clean and tidy, typical of what is acceptable in a corporate environment.
The following are intended as guidelines for suitable dress:
Male students
§ Tailored trousers and collared shirts, which are tucked in to the waistband at all times; jackets or smart v-necked jumpers in a dark colour and plain pattern.
§ Formal black or brown leather footwear, other than trainers.
Female students
§ Dresses or sleeved tops with smart skirts or trousers.
§ Dresses and skirts, at or below the knee are acceptable. Shorter (no more than 4cm above the knee) dark skirts are permissible if worn with dark opaque tights. Midriffs, décolletage and shoulders should be covered at all times.
§ Formal leather footwear, other than trainers.
The following are not allowed:
- hats
- "hoodies"
- caps
- jeans or look-alike jeans of any colour
- "combat" trousers
- tracksuit tops or bottoms
- sweat shirts
- sweatpants
- shorts
- any visible items of clothing that have large lettering, logos or slogans
- leggings, or other very form-fitting trousers
- hooded coats
- T shirts
- beach wear
- flip flops
- trainers
Students should not have any visible body piercing other than pierced ears. Visible tattoos are prohibited. No denim should be worn. Clothing that is too revealing or likely to cause embarrassment must be avoided. If you are not sure if something is acceptable, choose something else or inquire first.
If a student does wear clothing deemed inappropriate for school wear, staff members will refuse that student entry to their class and the student may be sent home to change clothes. Senior staff are the final arbiters.
I look forward to welcoming you on our Activity Day, and hope you and your family enjoy a good summer break.
With my very best wishes
Violet Walker
Assistant Headteacher, Head of Sixth Form
