For winning the Army Engineering Challenge.

 

The challenge has now been running for four years and this is the second year that Park High has hosted it. The rivalry was intense as Whitmore and Bentley wood produced 6 teams of Yr 11’s between them. With two teams of yr 10’s Park High didn’t shy away from the contest. The students were selected at random from onePark and one High Product Design class.

 

The Design task was to build a model of a bridge over a ravine that the army vehicles could cross over. With a distance of nearly one metre to span and the only resources available, 3 pieces of card, seleotape and string it was a hard task. The record for the competition in all schools was 28kg(62lbs approx.) so it was a big task.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Park High girls team nearly broke the record with a massive 25kg (55 lbs approx) of weight hanging from the middle of their structure.

This was enough to beat second place team 2 from Bentley Wood with 12kg.

It was thoroughly enjoy by both Park High teams and a great achievement to win and nearly beat the record set from over 3000 teams.
