Q: What type of calculator can be used?
A: Calculators must be:
· Of a size suitable for use on the desk
· Either battery or solar powered
Calculators must not:
· Be designed or adapted to offer any of these facilities:
o Language translators
o Symbolic algebra manipulation
o Symbolic differentiation or integration
o Communication with other machines or the internet
· Be borrowed from another candidate during an examination for any reason.
· Have retrievable information stored in them – this includes:
o Databanks
o Dictionaries
o Mathematical formulas
o Text
IMPORTANT: You are not allowed to bring to the exam the calculator case or lid, or the calculator instruction leaflets. If you are found to have any material with you which is not allowed, even if you did not intend to use it, this will be reported to the awarding body. The normal practice in these circumstances is to disqualify the candidate from the paper or the subject.
Q: What colour pen should I be using in my exams?
A:
· You must write only in black ink or ballpoint pen, except for drawings and rough notes.
· You must not use:
o Correcting pens, fluid or tape
o Highlighter pens in your answers (although you may use them to highlight questions within the question paper or question/answer booklet)
Q: What do I do with any rough work I have?
A:
· You must do all work, including rough work, on examination stationery.
· You should neatly cross through any rough work but not make it totally illegible, as it will be forwarded to the examiner.
· You must do any rough work for multiple-choice papers in the question book.
