Facebook Fascination
Facebook is a large social networking website but who would have thought it would now become the most popular website to play games?
We interviewed Elwira in Year 9, to find out her views about this Facebook fascination. We asked her “why she thinks these games are so very addictive?” She replied “It is addictive as you can enjoy this game with your friends, it appeals to all age groups and it is continuous. It is hard to quit the game because you know you can get to the next level and they are always introducing new features to the game.”
This is what Priten from Year 9 who plays Farmville regularly has to say. “Farmville is actually quite an addictive game because, what Farmville is actually is that you plant seeds with your coins and then when put plant seeds you get a certain amount of XP so for grapes you get 3 XP, for strawberries you get 1 XP and then from the amount of XP you have, you will move up levels. You buy the seeds and then plant them and then once they have grown properly which is 100%, you can then harvest them and then you make double the price that you bought the seeds for. This means that you would make a profit. Then you can buy extra things from the market such as tractors, hay bales, animals, statues, fences etc… You can also send gifts to your friends instead of buying them. The gifts are free to send. It is quite fun to play, however it takes too much time and can stop you from doing any work.”
With the development of newer, more exciting games are we all going to become even more addicted to Facebook? Or is Facebook going to become an even better experience?
