Geography
Course Content
Geography explores the way we are influenced by the world and how we can change it. This course encourages students to develop and apply an understanding of physical and human processes, their interactions and outcomes, through the study of people, places and environments. Students will develop an understanding of the complex relationships between people and their environments and the opportunities, challenges and constraints that face people. Students will develop a critical understanding of how decisions are made concerning the use and management of resources and environments, and understand the significance and impact of people’s values and attitudes in relation to geographical issues and questions. An understanding of stewardship, sustainable management systems and their practical applications will be embedded in all of our work.
All AS Geography students will be expected to commit to one weekend away on a residential fieldwork trip, for which there will be a cost (for more information please contact the Geography Department). The relevance of Geography can be applied within a vast range of academic and career opportunities. Geography combines very well with many other AS and A2 courses.
