Music
Key Stage 5 Music:
Students follow the Edexcell AS and A2 syllabus and learn through a more theoretical and academic approach supported by practical learning where appropriate.
Students regularly perform solo and in ensembles at concerts in the classroom and in front of wider audiences. Indeed, they are encouraged to take more of a musical lead by rehearsing and directing some ensembles.
Students compose their own music in specific styles which are studied.
Eventually students specialise in performing or composing and their studies are then weighted in that favour.
There is a mixture of supervised coursework and examinations.
Students go on trips into London to see live musicians performing and indeed profession musicians are brought into the school to work alongside GCSE students at times.
