Ofsted Letter Feb 09
February 2009
Dear Parents and Carers
I am delighted to tell you that Ofsted has judged Park High to be an outstanding school. This follows the inspection of the school in January and a copy of the full report is attached.
Naturally I am delighted for the school and for all our students and staff. The inspectors were impressed by our students’ ‘positive attitudes to learning and to each other’. They describe the staff as ‘enthusiastic, conscientious and committed’ and throughout the report they recognise their talent and expertise. They were impressed by the work of governors, and by the many comments given by parents to the inspection team which showed how much you support your children and the school.
You will notice the very high number of judgements that were grade 1 (outstanding), and that nothing was judged to be less than good. I was particularly pleased by the judgements about our Sixth Form, which has yet to complete its first 2 year A level programme – the inspectors describe its development as outstanding, as well as many aspects of its provision.
This report is a significant endorsement of the progress made by Park High. There is always much to be done in a school and we agree with the inspectors that we can raise achievement even higher. The inspectors note that examination results ‘continue to improve year on year’ and that there have been many other significant improvements since the last inspection in 2006. From the point of view of parents and students, probably the most important grade awarded is that of ‘capacity to improve’, and they judged that to be outstanding too.
Thank you for your part in helping Park High to be such a successful school and congratulations to everyone in our school community.
With best wishes.
Yours sincerely
Tony Barnes
