Course Content
The course aims to encourage students to develop a critical understanding of Philosophy and Religion and Religious ethics. The course explores the following topics: ancient Greek and Judeo Christian influence on the Philosophy of Religion, ethical theories, arguments for the existence of God and challenges to religious belief. Students will acquire a range of skills, including debating, communication, formulating and supporting arguments, essay writing, critical thinking and problem solving. The relevance and importance of Religious Studies is becoming increasingly recognised by higher education establishments, universities and employers. The course is also recommended to students contemplating a career in law or medicine. The subject combines well with most AS and A Level subjects. For example, philosophy and ethics, psychology, and sociology work well if you wish to become a criminal psychologist. Philosophy and ethics, science and psychology work well together if you wish to go into the medical profession. philosophy and ethics, sociology and English or history work well together if you wish to go into law.
