Cycling to School

The following map shows cycling times to the school.

We suggest that you:

  • Plan your route – use quieter roads and cycle paths where possible, only use busier roads if you have been trained and are confident
  • Be safe – follow the rules of the road, give way, use signals, and be careful at junctions, roundabouts and near large vehicles
  • Be seen – ride where you can be seen, wear bright clothing if possible and use reflectors and lights.

Travelling by Car

Park High School is located at the end of two quiet residential cul-de-sacs off Crowshott Avenue - Burnell Gardens and Thistlecroft Gardens.

Please note Harrow Council have introduced ANPR cameras at the beginning of Burnell Gardens and Thistlecroft Gardens, the restrictions are in place from 8.15am to 9.15am and 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

The school will not take any responsibility for any parents/carers or visitors to the school receiving a fine.

Traveling to the school by these roads requires cars to weave in and out of vacant spaces left by local residents. This can lead both roads becoming heavily congested at the beginning and end of the school day and during any school event. We also inform residents when school events may affect the traffic levels on either approach road.

Given the above, we request parents to not use Burnell Gardens and Thistlecroft Gardens for student drop-offs or pick-ups; instead use Crowshott Avenue or Culver Grove.

Crowshott Avenue itself adds to the area’s “congestion and parking problems” by having a medical centre near Burnell Gardens. However, there is a zebra crossing near the medical centre where students, staff and visitors can cross safely to walk to the Burnell Gardens school entrance.

School car park

The staff car park entrance is at the end of Burnell Gardens with the exit via Thistlecroft Gardens. Deliveries should therefore NOT arrive at the Thistlecroft exit since they will be turned away.

Since the car park is at the front of the school, students, staff and visitors have to cross it to enter the school buildings – great care needs to be taken, particularly at the beginning and end of the school day.

Visitor Parking

The school has no visitor parking onsite and the local area parking is extremely limited – we suggest visitors use public transport.

Exceptionally some onsite visitor parking may be possible, but this could only happen by prior arrangement with the school’s Head Teacher or Business Manager.

Bad weather transport restrictions

Due to the location of the school at the end of 2 residential roads (as opposed to a main road), snow and ice conditions can make them impassable. These conditions would lead to the school having to close – with parents and staff being informed via the school’s website.
