On Thursday 22nd February 2018, Twelve of Park High school's Year 9 students took part in a competition to raise money for MIND in Harrows work in the local community. Our Year 9's did a fantastic job representing Park High at the inter-Harrow schools Mastermind hosted by Harrow School. They showed excellent team work and were a credit to the school.
The schools team was made up of 12 students, Cindia, Hetal, Frotan, Kavish, Krisha, Kushal, Mithu, Mondir, Monica, Nicole, Zaynab and Zainab. Team awesoms’ captain Zainab (Year 9), explained how everyone involved had been rigorously practising for the big day. “My team and I have been getting mentally and physically ready for this amazing opportunity. “To prepare, we have been quizzing each other on general knowledge and chosen subjects.
Ms Barker, who acted as lead teacher during the fundraising campaign, noted how the programme has brought the charity and school closer together.
“From the engaging ‘mindkit’ assemblies for students to staff training, myself, the school and MIND have a shared goal of equipping young people at Park High with the knowledge and skills required to support and raise awareness of mental health,” she said.
“Being presented with the Mastermind competition seemed a fantastic chance to not only fundraise for an organisation we wholly support but also to engage our year nines in a fun competition, where they can develop their team work and communication skills.”
One of the teams captained by Zainab came a very impressive fourth and scored almost full marks on the Maths round which gave them an early lead. They were just beaten to medal position by Hatch End school who came 3rd, John Lyons school who came 2nd and Harrow School who came in 1st place. Our students stated said it was a privilege to be taking part in the competition.
