On Tuesday 20th March five of our Year 9 boys took part in the final for under 14's badminton of the London Youth Games at Redbridge Sports Centre. Having already beaten all those in Harrow and then successfully navigating the West London finals, the boys were competing as one of the top 8 schools across London.
The London Youth Games is Europe's largest youth sports festival. It is now a season of events taking place over 9 months including both School and Community Competitions across 30 different sports. The competitions are part of the National School Games Programme. School Competitions are organised locally by School Games Organisers, with the London finals hosted by London Youth Games.
In a very high level of competition Park High beat Heartlands High school from Haringey, but unfortunately were on the wrong side of the result against both Rutlish High and The Coopers Company, representing Merton and Havering respectively. Both of these schools had players who were ranked at County or National level illustrating the quality on show.
The Coopers Company, representing Merton won the competition, but the boys have done fantastically to finish in the top 8 schools in London. Congratulations to the boys involved, all of whom played with dignity and were a credit to the school. Thank you to Mr Darby for encouraging the boys to develop their skills.
