Park High School

STEM Event

Tuesday the 12th June 20 Year 7 Park High students attended a STEM Day event at Merchant Taylors' school. It was a Day of learning about the challenges faced by Sir Ben Ainslie's from Land Rover BAR in Portsmouth and the British team in the America's Cup Challenge.

Sir Ben Ainslie is the most successful sailor in Olympic history, he has won medals at five consecutive Olympics from 1996 onwards, including gold at the four Games held between 2000 and 2012. In January 2013 Ben was Knighted and in September 2013, he won the America’s Cup. The America's Cup, is a trophy awarded to the winner of the America's Cup match races between two sailing yachts.

Students took part in various exciting hands-on activities such as destruction testing  of materials, building and testing wind turbines, and building different shapes of boat hulls.

But the best bit was definitely having the chance to try sailing, canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding.

Our Park High students were amazing and the organisers commented on how very impressed they were with our students conduct and engagement, so well done to all the Year 7s involved.
