On Thursday 28th June our Year 7 rocketeers took part in the national final of Race for the Line, the model rocket car competition at the RAF Wittering in Peterborough. In this years competition there were over 420 schools participating with over 75,000 Year 7 students.
The Students travelled by mini bus to RAF Wittering in Peterborough at 7am in the morning with high hopes. The team competed against 58 other teams to design, build and race a car using their own wheel and axle arrangement.
There was lots of activities through out the day run by the tri-forces, several air displays including one phenomenal display by the Red Arrows and they even got to meet 2 Red Arrow Pilots. Our Park High rocketeers were also delighted that they were selected as one of few schools to meet and chat with the Countess of Sussex. The students were all very impressed and pleased to meet her, she had lots of knowledge about engineering and was really interested in the competition and our rocket car.
Although they didn't win our team had an amazing day. Well done to our Year 7 team for getting to the National final! And a big thank you to Ms Attfield for arranging the day and thanks to Ms Browne for getting them there.
