Park High School

Graffiti Project

At the end of the Autumn term a select group of year 9’s had the opportunity to work alongside a Graffiti artist to create a mural for the main playground. The students worked very hard, over several cold and wet lunchtimes, to prepare the wall which needed (what felt like) hundreds of climbing hand holds removed and flaking paint stripped off. Having worked so hard they were rewarded by working with artist Paul Kemp, AKA ‘Keshone’, who took them through the basics of spray painting. Students all had a go at spraying on the wall and also got the chance to create their own expressive face stencil to add to the design. Keshone also spoke to students about the company he owns and designs for which sells clothing, creates posters/album covers and even makes music videos. All in all the students had a fantastic day and went away feeling very inspired – they already have their sights set on the other half of the wall, watch out!
