Park High's production of Little Shop of Horrors Musical

Students at Park High School finished the first half-term of 2024 with a stunning sold-out production of Little Shop of Horrors.  Over 50 students were involved in the company having worked tirelessly since the start of the academic year to produce a joyful and uplifting show.

Aisha, Year 10 Student reviewed the show: "Little Shop of Horrors Musical is a comedy with an exciting element of horror. The story follows an unfortunate florist shop worker- Seymour, who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. He names this new discovery “Audrey II,” after his co-worker crush. The overall message to the audience is to be careful what you wish for; terrible consequences face those who get what they want rather than what they earn. My personal favourite moments of the musical include the amusing lines of dialogue between the dentist and Seymour. The set and props were designed with notable talent: a noticeable green and floral theme to align to the florist shop. The prop design was excellent, along with the usage of darker background colours to show the ongoing theme of horror. I loved the costume of each character; the dancers all matched perfectly, and Mushnik's attire was amusing. The dancing was of exceedingly high standard, making us as an audience appreciate the effort put into this production. My favourite character was Seymour; his character seemed funny and relatable; his high determination stands for those of us who strive to be the best. I think it's important that Park High continues to put on productions such as this, as there is something for everyone. I also think it's important us students understand being book smart is not the only thing that matters; our creative side should always stand out no matter what we do."

Parents, visitors, students and staff were amazed by the talent of the students.  Songs such as Suddenly Seymour, Don’t Feed the Plants and the title song Little Shop of Horrors reverberated around the school hall long after the final notes had been heard.  In addition to amazing vocals, led by leads Keeya Patel and Bianca Curic (Audrey), Luiza Galan (Audrey II) and Oliver Randall (Seymour), the students danced their socks off, supported by a creative backstage crew.  The first of three performances was attended by Year 5 pupils from Kenmore Primary School who thoroughly enjoyed their first theatrical experience.

Laura Molloy, Head of Performing Arts, said: “We are thrilled to have put on another amazing performance and are fortunate to work with such wonderful and able students”.

Colette O’Dwyer, Headteacher, said: “I am so proud of our students and their amazing talents.  This show is fit for the West End!

Well done to all the students who took part in this fantastic production.
