Park High students perform for the Shakespeare School’s Foundation Charity Gala

On Thursday 14 November, Shakespeare Schools Foundation hosted an evening of entertainment and performances at Senate House Library in London. There was a gala dinner, a fundraising auction, and young people supported by SSF took to the stage to perform, showing the transformative power the work of Shakespeare and the Foundation does.

We were delighted that the organisers of the Charity Gala asked Park High to revive our successful production of Richard III. Park High performed last year at the Shakespeare School’s Festival at Harrow Art Centre. There were 850 schools that entered the Festival last year and so it is a real achievement to have been called back twice to re-perform Richard III; it is such a credit to our students and show just how talented they are!

The evening was hosted by Jan Ravens one of the UK’s most successful impressionists and some of the Shakespeare Schools Foundation esteemed Patrons performed alongside our students including Dame Harriet Walter who is known for her roles in The Crown, Downton Abbey, Sense & Sensibility,  Paterson Joseph known for his roles in Casualty and Peep Show and John Heffernan know for his roles in The Crown, Dracula and Crooked House.

The students’ performance was exceptional, there were no faults and they conducted themselves like true actors. It was inspiring for our students to share the stage with some of England’s well renowned actors; the greatest part was that at the end of their performance, Harriet Walter snatched the crown off our 'Richard’s' head.

We are so proud of all the students involved, Well Done from all of us at Park High School. Thank you to Miss Hall for making it happen.
