RACE FOR THE LINE
On 22nd March, Park High School hosted the local Hub of Race for the Line. This national
competition to build and race model rocket cars is run by Bloodhound SSC (the land speed record team), The Army and Microsoft. Students 23 teams of year 7 and 8 students from PHS, John Lyon and Bentley Wood schools competed for two positions in the regional final in April. Students watched in awe as their cars were fitted with rockets and fired one by one. It was a really amazing experience to see students cars reach speeds of up to 25mph.
A team from Park High and from Bentley Wood took the two spots to go forward to the regional final. The national winners will be taken to South Africa to the Hakskeen Pan to see where Boohound will be racing and hopefully get to watch the land speed record-breaking attempt
