Park High held its annual Foodbank drive, we don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. We asked staff and students to donate what they could to help those in need, non-perishable essentials like tinned peas, savoury biscuits, tinned spaghetti, packet soup, puddings in packets, peanut butter, honey, chocolate spread, rice, brown sauce, deodorant, toiletries, soap/shower gel, Packs of toilet paper, toothbrushes, nappies, household cleaners, washing-up liquid, kitchen towels, washing detergent and some extra treats as it is Christmas after all.
The Harrow Foodbank does fantastic work to help our local community. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income, a simple box of food makes a big difference. The Harrow Foodbank was founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area and is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust who are working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Foodbanks partner with a wide range of care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers and police to identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher of three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support.
Ms Lee & Ms Little arranged for the donations to be collected, sorted, repacked and delivered to the Harrow Foodbank. Park High donated 613.7kg of food to the Foodbank, really shows the community spirit here at Park, a little or a lot it all adds up. A massive thank you to all who donated and to Ms Lee & Ms Little who organised it all.
