Jeremy Clarkson was suspended by the BBC after he punched producer Oisin Tymon after he didn’t give Clarkson his steak on time. Many fans have expressed their anger and shock of this through Social Media. While some people believe that good has come out of this suspension, nothing but trouble has come from this.
A petition was made on change.org to #BringBackClarkson and for BBC to stop the suspension. The petition has reached just over 970,000 signatures, leading to an immense amount of pressure being put on Ken MacQuarrie, the director of BBC Scotland. However, this isn’t the only petition signed linked to the suspension. A petition has been made to counter the petition #BringBackClarkson and replace Jeremy ---Clarkson with Alan Partridge (a fictional character by Steve Coogan)
If Jeremy Clarkson is fired by the BBC, the remaining episodes of Top Gear will never be shown again. Top Gear has a time slot of 20:00 – 21:00 and right now, as the future of the show isn’t decided, the show is temporarily being replaced with Red Arrows: Inside the Bubble. The number of viewers in that timeslot was down by a massive 4 million. This shows how a big amount of viewers is for Top Gear and thus, putting more pressure to bring back Clarkson.
Fans have speculated who could replace Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. However, the co-hosts of Top Gear have stated they won’t film the show without Clarkson. Fans of the racing show also think that Chris Evans could be the new host, but Chris Evans has denied being the new host.
