GCSE results wrap up our watershed year

Congratulations to all our Year 11 students that have received their GCSE results this morning.

The school hall was full of excitement as Year 11 students marked the culmination of their hard work and dedication.

This year’s results continue our trend of strong academic achievement. An impressive 82% of students achieved a standard pass (grade 9-4) in Mathematics and 82% achieved the same in English Literature, with 76% securing a grade 9-4 in English Language. Overall, 63% of the cohort achieved five standard passes at GCSE, including English and Maths. While our overall Attainment 8 score is yet to be confirmed, current projections indicate it will be strong, reflecting the fantastic progress students have made.

We are particularly delighted with the phenomenal success in the separate sciences. An incredible 100% of students studying Biology, Chemistry, and Physics secured grades 9-5. Within this, a remarkable 78.6% of grades were at the highest level of 9-7, including an exceptional 85% of students achieving a grade 7 or above in Chemistry. This is a testament to all our students' focus and the high-quality teaching within the department.

This success extends across our broad and balanced curriculum, with excellent results in many other subjects, including:

  • Biology, Chemistry, and Physics: 100% of students achieved grades 9-5
  • Music: 87.5% of students achieving grades 9-5
  • Drama: 89% of students achieving grades 9-4
  • Computer Science: 85% of students achieving grades 9-4
  • Religious Studies: 85% of students achieving grades 9-4
  • Business: 81% of students achieving grades 9-4
  • Combined Science: 73% of students achieved grade 9-4

Colette O’Dwyer, Headteacher, said:

“I am incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and staff. Their achievements are a direct result of their perseverance, hard work, and the unwavering support of our dedicated staff and their families. They have shown immense character and resilience, and these results are thoroughly deserved. It is wonderful to see so many of them celebrating today as they prepare for the next chapter of their education. We wish them all the very best for the future!”

A great number of Park High students will be continuing their journey into our school’s Sixth Form, with particular interest in their highly successful Science, Social Science, and Maths courses.

Following last week’s excellent A Level results, we are again celebrating the best GCSE results in recent years, rounding off a highly successful academic year. In October, Ofsted upgraded us to Good in all areas, recognising the strides our staff and students have made across teaching, behaviour and pastoral support.

Additionally, we celebrated a number of awards this year, including being named an ACE School of Character, Artsmark Gold from the Arts Council England, the Bronze Equalities Award and the Quality in Careers Standard.

Park High students also proved themselves as Harrow Schools Sports Champions in both the boys and girls league tables – becoming the first school to ever hold both titles for consecutive years.
