Staying safe in hot weather

With the weather getting hotter this week, we want to make sure everyone stays safe, healthy, and comfortable during the school day. Please take a moment to read the following important reminders for students which we ask parents and carers to support with:

Keep Hydrated

  • Bring a refillable water bottle and drink water regularly throughout the day, filling up at break and lunchtime.
  • Avoid fizzy or sugary drinks—they can make you feel more dehydrated.

Dress

  • We would recommend not wearing blazers or jumpers, and to keep base layers to a minimum if wearing.

Keeping safe in the heat

  • Apply sunscreen before school and reapply if you're outside for long periods. Please do not use spray sunscreen in school as it can trigger the fire alarm sensors.
  • Stay in shaded or indoor areas during break and lunch when possible.
  • Avoid running or intense physical activity during the hottest parts of the day, taking regular breaks if you do.
  • If you take medication for hay fever, please do so before school.

Getting to and from School

  • If you walk or take public transport, try to stay in the shade and carry water with you.
  • Let a teacher or staff member know if you feel unwell at any point.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and comfortable.
