Park High Book Week is 11th-15th June : The book fair is back during book week at breaktime and lunchtimes in the school hall.
As a school, we aim to promote reading for pleasure. Not only is reading fun and entertaining, but research highlights that students who read have larger vocabularies, better control over their writing and more knowledge. In fact, many studies have indicated that students who read and are exposed to language have 35 million more words in their vocabularies than students who don’t. Students who read, therefore, achieve greater academic success in all subjects across the curriculum. We want to support all our students in becoming readers, to ensure they achieve their academic potential.
To celebrate reading and to encourage our students experiencing a wide range of texts, we will be running a Scholastics Book Fair in school next week as part of our Book Week celebrations. The Book Fair will be running from Monday 11th June- Friday 15th June during break and lunchtimes in the school hall. There will be over 200 titles to choose from, with prices starting from only £2.99. The titles selected are all appropriate for secondary students. Discounted Gift Vouchers are available at www.bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/parents should you wish to purchase those before the book fair. Also, every book you buy can help to get free books for our school.

Over the summer, every student at Park High will be expected to read at least one book. This could be fiction or non-fiction. They will need to do some work on the book that they have read. The book fair will be the perfect opportunity for students to select something wonderful to read for the summer. A summer reading competition will also be shared with students soon.
We really hope that you can support the book fair and engage with reading at home.
