On Friday 15th June teams of Year 8 students competed against each other in the IET Faraday Challenge Day here at Park High School.
Our 6 teams were set the task of designing a new experience for Thorpe Park which could include a design for a brand new ride, but they had very exacting constraints that they had to consider in order to be successful.
The teams then had to use their budgeting and model making skills to create a semi working prototype of their idea.
They then had to present their idea to a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style panel, where they were asked difficult questions about their product and how it might work.
All the teams did fantastically well but only one team could go through to the next round. The winners were:
Our students had a great day and our winning team are going through to a Festival of Aspiring Engineering at the IET in central London, where they will market their idea to a panel of judges.
