Subject overview
The new V Level in Accounting and Finance represents a significant shift from traditional vocational accounting courses. Rather than focusing primarily on bookkeeping techniques, it develops students' ability to interpret, analyse, evaluate, and communicate financial information within real organisational contexts. The qualification is designed to prepare learners for higher education, apprenticeships and careers in accounting, finance and business through a blend of technical knowledge, analytical thinking and real-world application.
"I would love to study the V Level in Accounting and Finance because it offers the opportunity to develop both analytical and practical skills in a real-world context. The focus on financial decision-making, business performance and ethical practice is particularly appealing, and I believe the course would provide an excellent introduction to careers in accounting, finance and the wider business sector. It seems like the perfect combination of academic challenge and practical application." - Student
Qualification obtained: V Level (Level 3)
Entry requirements:
Students must achieve at least six 9-4 grades including English Language and Mathematics at GCSE.
"We are delighted to introduce the new Level 3 V Level in Accounting and Finance from September 2027. Equivalent in size to one A Level, this qualification offers students an excellent opportunity to develop practical financial and analytical skills that are highly valued by universities and employers. It provides a rigorous and engaging route into accounting, finance, business and related careers."

Students considering careers in accounting, finance, banking or economics may find the V Level in Accounting and Finance a more specialised alternative to A Level Business. Whilst A Level Business provides a broad understanding of how organisations operate, the V Level develops a deeper understanding of financial information, accounting principles and financial decision-making within real business contexts.
